Case Studies
London Underground Station, Perivale

This Briggs Roofing & Cladding project involved stripping up and replacing the existing asphalt to various roof areas. Working for London Underground Limited (LUL), all Briggs operatives had to undergo the initial Entry Permit Fire Awareness Training at LUL’s Acton training centre.
Following a health and safety audit, it was decided that the works should all be carried out in engineering hours — between 1.15am and 4.15am — under task lighting because of the proximity of both rails and public to the site of work.
Although the total area was only 500 square metres, there were three main roofs, including a canopy, each of which presented specific challenges. For example, the high level roof consisted of three wells, with vertical work of over 1.5 metres. Despite the many challenges, the project was completed ahead of programme.
